Before the Cleveland Browns took the field for their second preseason game, Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan made an interesting comment about Shedeur Sanders.
Sanders, the 144th pick from last year’s draft, finished his rookie season with 1,400 passing yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He’s been battling Deshaun Watson throughout training camp for the starting quarterback job.
If Sanders wants any chance at winning the Week 1 job, he’ll need to perform well in his second preseason game. He had 79 passing yards and an interception in the opener against the Chicago Bears.
Some reporters in Cleveland have already said that Watson should be named the team’s starter, which has led to a ton of criticism from Sanders’ fan base.
Well, Ruiter suggested this weekend that Sanders has “keyboard warriors” on his payroll constantly fighting for him to win the job.
“No watershed day. Just one QB got his on the payroll keyboard warrior wannabe clout chasers fighting a battle that he should win on the field,” Ruiter wrote on X. “Instead of recognizing shortcomings and the need for improvement, easier to attack folks who have nothing to do with Browns decisions.”

Unsurprisingly, Ruiter received a lot of heat for his remark about Sanders having “keyboard warriors” on his payroll.
“Why do people think that you can say whatever you want to say and then get sassy when people start talking back? It’s not the old days anymore. Everyone has a platform to talk. Stop playing the victim when you started it. Stop trying to use SS2 as a weapon,” one fan said.
“It’s always people like this that will say whatever and think they can talk to people however they want then cry when they get that same energy in return,” a second fan replied.
“Fans got you so mad that you attack the QB,” another fan wrote. “What type of journalist are you?”
Sanders hasn’t responded to this claim from Ruiter. He did, however, kick off this Saturday’s preseason game with a first-quarter touchdown pass to Luke Floriea.
