Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has not appeared in an NFL game since the 2024 season, when he made seven starts for Cleveland. He did not see any game action last year due to a torn right Achilles. Despite not playing in nearly two years, he will start for the Browns when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Not only has Watson dealt with injuries throughout his career, but he has also seen lots of issues off the field. Since 2021, Watson has faced nearly 30 civil lawsuits of sexual misconduct, all of which have since been dismissed. Now, before he was set to make his return to the field, Watson is facing more legal trouble.

On Wednesday, Fox 8 News Cleveland reported that Watson entered a not guilty plea for a speeding ticket that alleged he was driving 86 mph in a 60 mph zone.
“Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will face the Jaguars’ defense Sunday, but right now he’s fighting what most of us face at some point – a speeding ticket,” Fox 8 News said on X.
According to Fox’s report, Watson was issued the speeding ticket on Aug. 26 on I-480 in Cleveland by a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. After Watson’s not guilty plea, a bench trial has been scheduled for Sept. 23.
This latest legal issue will not affect Watson’s availability for Sunday’s season-opening clash between the Browns and Jaguars.
