NFL fans can forgive a player that struggles in practice. NFL fans can forgive a player that seems overpaid. But you'll be hard-pressed to find fans in the NFL or any other league that can forgive an overpaid player struggling in practice.
Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson seems to fall into that category as he's reportedly struggled mightily throughout the start of training camp and most of the team's offseason activities. But Tuesday appeared to be the straw that broke the camel's back.
According to Noah Olson, boos could be heard during Browns practice today.
"Watson currently being boo’ed by Browns fans," he wrote on X.

Between his off-the-field controversies, his bloated contract, injuries and a lack of form before those injuries, Watson has lost just about all patience from Browns fans. Fans were pretty shocked that things have gotten so bad that he's already getting boo'd in training camp, where hope springs eternal.

You can hardly blame Browns fans for being agitated with Watson. The team's trade and subsequent mega-extension for him set the team back significantly both in terms of draft capital and cap space. The fact that the team has endured three seasons of 10 or more losses in the four that he's been part of the organization certainly isn't helping.
Watson is having a tough time merely beating out two second-year QBs who struggled in 2025 - after having over a year to recover. If he can't win the starting job in Cleveland, he might not be able to win it anywhere anymore.
