It was Labor Day on Monday, but no one in the front office or on the coaching staff was taking a day off. The team made a roster move, tweaking the practice squad, while also bringing in nine players for a workout.
The Browns worked on upgrading the defensive tackle position on Monday, as Tyreak Sapp was released from the practice squad, while it added defensive tackle Zion Logue to take his place.
Zion Logue Heads to Cleveland
Logue might not be a name many Browns fans are familiar with, but he actually appeared in five games with the Buffalo Bills across the past two seasons.
Logue was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2024 NFL Draft in the sixth round out of the University of Georgia. He must have made an impression on Browns first-year head coach Todd Monken, who served as the offensive coordinator for the Dawgs from 2020-22, while Logue was in Athens playing between the hedges from 2020-23.
The Bills picked Logue up after cuts in 2024, and he made two solo tackles in two games for Buffalo in 2024. In 2025, he had two solo tackles and an assist, while posting a half-sack and a pass defensed in three appearances with the Bills.
It’s believed that Logue is a bit of an upgrade over Sapp because of his NFL experience, and he is the second former Bills player that the Browns have claimed. He joins cornerback Toriano Pride Jr., who was added by Cleveland in late August after he was waived by the Bills after failing to make the final 53-man roster there.
Practice Squad Includes Plenty of NFL Experience
The Browns have really done a pretty decent job racking up some NFL talent on the practice squad, giving the organization some nice depth.
Logue joins defensive tackles Sam Kamara and Chris Williams on the practice squad. Defensive ends Logan Fano and Khordae Sydnor are also on the practice squad, ready if injuries occur on the active roster.
The team also recently brought back cornerback Michael Coats Jr., a feel-good story and emerging fan favorite, to the practice squad. He was released after initially making the 53-man roster.
The rest of the current practice squad includes cornerback Myles Bryant, offensive tackle KT Leveston, former Denver Broncos running back Jaleel McLaughlin, wide receiver Bryce Oliver, punter Wes Pahl, cornerback D’Angelo Ross, tight end Messiah Swinson, safety Zion Washington, linebacker Nathaniel Watson and wide receiver/returner Kole Wilson.
