Jerry Jeudy caught three passes for 36 yards in the Cleveland Browns’ win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, one more catch than he had in the first three games combined. He did it in a part-time role. Jeudy played 24 of Cleveland’s 65 offensive snaps, according to PFF, while rookies Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion played 62 and 60.
That gap is why Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox included Jeudy among the players who could use a change of scenery, with the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers as his ideal landing spots. Knox wrote that Jeudy can still be a high-end receiver at 27, but “he’s probably not going to do that in Cleveland.”
Two NFC West fits for Jerry Jeudy
San Francisco has the most obvious need. The 49ers have Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, Demarcus Robinson and De’Zhaun Stribling all on injured reserve, and Mike Evans is dealing with a rib injury. They also have $42.2 million in cap space, the most in the league according to Over the Cap. Knox isn’t the first to make the connection, either. Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton suggested the same move last month.
The Rams are 1-2 and have the least cap room in the NFL at $2.5 million, and Puka Nacua is expected back Sunday after missing two games. The Indianapolis Colts have also been tied to Jeudy.
Cap space shouldn’t be an obstacle for either team. Jeudy signed a three-year, $52.5 million extension in 2024, but his base salary is $1.5 million this season and next, per Over the Cap, and none of his 2027 salary is guaranteed. An acquiring team would get a receiver who had 90 catches for 1,229 yards and made the Pro Bowl two years ago, according to Pro Football Reference, with a second year of control at the same price.
Cleveland has its own reasons to wait. The Browns are 3-1 and in first place in the AFC North, and Jeudy’s 74.4 grade from PFF on Thursday was the fourth-best on the offense. He’s a useful veteran behind a pair of rookie starters.
So would the Browns really move a former Pro Bowler while they’re leading the division, or will a team short on receivers make the offer too good to pass up before Nov. 10?
