Whether you agree that he's "worth the money" or not, Brock Purdy has the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl contention yet again. And he now has a chance to join two all-time greats in NFL history.

According to ProFootballTalk, Purdy can join Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady with six playoff wins through four NFL seasons if he wins this weekend. Of course, that may be a challenge as the 49ers take on the top-seeded Seattle Seahawks this Saturday after losing to them just two weeks ago.

The record is currently held by former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who won seven in his first four seasons. To match that record, he'd have to lead the 49ers to an NFC Championship Game and win it. The record would be all his if he wins the Super Bowl this year.

An incredible ascent

Much like Wilson, Purdy had to overcome long odds just to be a starter in the NFL, let alone become a successful one. He basically had to go from being the last player drafted to being fourth on the 49ers' QB depth chart to surviving a slew of injuries to finally reaching this point.

But now he's a Pro Bowler with the fifth-biggest contract in the NFL and ranks among the highest paid players in league history.

Nevertheless, many feel that Purdy is simply the by-product of a fool-proof system that makes bad quarterbacks look good. A Super Bowl win would certainly go a long way towards quieting that particular narrative, but we may not truly see Purdy get the respect he's earned until he no longer has Kyle Shanahan as his head coach.

Will Purdy overcome the odds once again and lead the 49ers to the Super Bowl?
