Brittney Grinerleft the Atlanta Dream after just one year and joined the Connecticut Sun in the past offseason. Now, in four games played for the Sun this 2026, Griner is averaging 13.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

More recently, Griner made history by becoming just the 18th WNBA player ever to reach 6,000 career points. She achieved the feat with her nine-point performance against the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday.

The 35-year-old center is clearly thriving in Connecticut, especially after a rather down year in Atlanta.

Aside from her performance on the court, her latest comments about Connecticut and her role with the team highlight how much she's loving her current situation.

Brittney Griner Speaks Out on Connecticut's Peaceful Environment

On Instagram, Griner shared a video of her home in Connecticut and discussed her living situation.

"Welcome to my crib guys," Griner stated at the start of the video. "It's nice. It's kind of big. I can do some cartwheels in here if I need to."

She added, "We got the essentials. We got the TV, table. I bought a little light. Got a slushie maker. So I got everything I need."

Griner went on to share that Connecticut has "been cool" before complimenting how peaceful it is there.

"I've just been honestly trying to get settled. Everything's new: a new team, young team. Never been in Connecticut before. Never lived up north, east before like that. So it's been different. It's a lot of nature out here. So I've been just kind of just enjoying that.

"The peace. It's very peaceful here. I will say this is probably the most peaceful I've been like anywhere. Like honestly, like literally anywhere."

WNBA Star Gets Real on Role With Sun

Before the WNBA season started, Griner talked about stepping into a "veteran role" with the Sun since she's the most experienced player on the team. She mentioned that it was a "big adjustment" for her since she's not used to being vocal.

In the video, Griner touched on that topic once again and revealed what she has been doing to help her younger teammates.

"Trying to be a leader. Like I said, I've got a young group. I've got a couple rookies, a couple players, a lot of players that haven't been in the league that long. So just trying to help lead, use my voice, use my experiences, everything that I've been through on the court, off the court. Just sharing it all and then just getting my vet voice," Griner said.

The Sun are only 2-8 on the season, placing them at the bottom of the WNBA standings. Regardless, Griner is trying her best to be a leader for Connecticut as they look to turn their season around.
