Patrick Mahomes’ performance in his first game back is a great sign for the Chiefs, as their quarterback appears healthy after suffering a season-ending injury in 2025. He immediately underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee and spent the whole offseason rehabbing.
At one point in Monday’s game, Mahomes took a hit from Broncos linebacker Nik Bonitto. Mahomes dusted it off and got back up, ultimately leading the Chiefs to a blowout win.
The strong return of the three-time Super Bowl MVP gives the Chiefs plenty of reason to be optimistic. Kansas City looks to improve to 2-0 when they host the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2.
The Chiefs failed to advance to the playoffs last year after finishing 6-11. With Mahomes healthy again, Kansas City aims to return to the postseason and compete for another Super Bowl.
For Brittany Mahomes, seeing her husband back on the field gave her the opportunity to celebrate an important milestone.
