Wednesday's win for the United States Men's National Team over Bosnia and Herzegovina will be bittersweet.
They logged their second clean sheet victory of the tournament, winning 2-0 and advancing to the Round of 16. The two goals both came in an exciting fashion, with Flo Balogun fighting through traffic to pull off a nice finish with his left in the 45th minute. Malik Tillman pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 82nd minute, scoring off a free kick.
However, Balogun was assessed a red card in the 64th minute after he and Bosnia and Herzegovina's Tarik Muharemovic got tangled up, and Balogun appeared to cleat the defender in the back of the leg.
The red card came after the referee went to VAR, which now has Balogun in line to be suspended for Team USA's Round of 16 match against Belgium.
Plenty of fans and media personalities took to X to express frustration, and one of the more notable was Brittany Mahomes. The wife of Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and former college soccer player took to Instagram with a very blunt message.
"That was some (expletive)...All I have to say," wrote Mahomes on her Instagram story.

Mahomes has plenty of ties to the other football, as she played at UT Tyler and was even inducted into the school's hall of fame. During her playing career, Mahomes had the second-most points (78) in UT Tyler women’s soccer history. In addition to that incredible accomplishment, she had the second-most goals in program history (31).
Mahomes ended up playing professionally in Iceland for a year, and her passion for soccer hasn't gone away by any means. She is both a co-founder and co-owner of the NWSL's Kansas City Current.
Fans like Mahomes are likely hoping the Balogun red card is somehow overturned after the fact, but the United States is trending toward being without its top scorer in the Round of 16.
