Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, left a supportive comment on Kelly Stafford’s social media post after the Los Angeles Rams suffered a narrow loss to the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills defeated the Rams 37–34 in overtime on Oct. 12 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
In the extra period, the Bills blocked Harrison Mevis’ 48-yard field-goal attempt, preventing Los Angeles from taking the lead. Buffalo then moved into field-goal range, and kicker Tyler Bass made a 45-yard field goal to win the game.
Four days after the loss, Kelly, the wife of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, shared family photos from the game on Instagram. The pictures included her husband wearing his Rams uniform before taking the field.
Her caption appeared to reference Mevis’ missed field goal in overtime, while expressing trust in God’s plan
“God had a different plan than having that ball go through the uprights, but whatever the plan is, we trust it ❤️,” Kelly wrote. “The plan does, however, always include cute fits 🥰.”
Brittany Mahomes reacted to Kelly Stafford’s post with a personal comment.
“Love this 🥹🙏🏼,” Mahomes wrote.
The Rams’ defeat came despite a strong performance from Stafford, who completed 40 of 54 passes for 383 yards and three touchdowns. Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua caught 17 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown.
The Rams released Mevis after the loss and signed kicker Blake Grupe as his replacement. However, Grupe tore his ACL during the Rams’ Oct. 18 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
The injury ended his season after just one game. The Rams recently signed veteran kicker Brandon McManus to replace him.
Kelly Stafford and Brittany Mahomes are familiar figures in the NFL community through their husbands’ careers. Patrick Mahomes has led the Chiefs to multiple Super Bowl appearances, while Matthew Stafford, the reigning NFL MVP, helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI in February 2022.
Their Instagram exchange offered a glimpse into the interactions between NFL players’ families away from the field.
