Speculation over where LeBron James will take his talents next after leaving the Los Angeles Lakers is going crazy online. But ESPN's Brian Windhorst believes that one particular player on the Philadelphia 76ers could be the key to swaying him.
Appearing on NBA Today, Windhorst said that the 76ers are expected to emerge as a "strong suitor" for LeBron due to his connection to the team's longtime point guard Tyrese Maxey. Windhorst noted that Maxey is part of the Klutch Sports agency that LeBron is in, and the two know each other well.
"A key factor in the sort of Philadelphia pursuit of LeBron is Tyrese Maxey. That is not only because of his talent, which is awesome, but he's one of Klutch's core clients. He's basically part of LeBron's extended family. So he would not only have Jaylen Brown as the addition, you would have Tyrese Maxey as your drawing card."

Windhorst was pressed on what kind of influence Maxey could have on LeBron's decision. he explained that the two have a long relationship together that dates back to when Maxey was first recruited by Klutch. He also pointed out that LeBron might have a connection to Joel Embiid from their Olympic gold medal win in 2024.
"There's a longstanding relationship between Tyrese Maxey and LeBron. They recruited Tyrese Maxey out of college. They nurtured him together. They've been to many events together.
"Joel Embiid also won a gold medal with LeBron and the 2024 Paris team definitely has some closeness to it. I was talking all week about how Steph Curry could be a drawing card for him. So, there's that connection to. But the connection to Philly is Tyrese Maxey. Tyrese Maxey and the Klutch connection, that would be where you make your recruitment. I would say that the Jaylen Brown move is a statement that 'We can win the Eastern Conference.'"

But NBA fans weren't convinced by Windhorst's argument. Many pointed out that Klutch Sports has clients on almost every NBA team so Maxey isn't particularly special.
Others dismissed him as simply pulling random ideas out of thin air that only make sense at a surface level.
This is gearing up to be the most intriguing mystery over where LeBron goes next since 2010. Things are definitely going to get confusing, that's for sure.
