Stop us if you've heard this one before: LeBron James is continuing to take his sweet time in deciding where he's going next and even the people closest to him don't seem to have the answers.
For ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst, the Cleveland Cavaliers have looked like the ideal location for LeBron to finish his career. But in a recent episode of his Hoop Collective show, Windhorst changed his mind. He said that despite the ties both of them have to Cleveland, the Miami Heat are starting to make sense to him as LeBron's destination.
“I'm just going to say: I have no insight and no information. You know that I'm from Cleveland, you know my ties there. The more I've looked at this and the more I've had conversations, the more Miami makes sense to me. And now when I hear him thinking about a couple of years, it makes even more sense to me," Windhorst said.
LeBron on the Heat?
When pressed, Windhorst explained that Miami offers him more options to either get the ball or get more protection on defense.
"I think that's where he goes and fits. He can go there and have the ball. He also can go there and be protected on defense. I think in Cleveland he can be protected on defense, for sure. But he wouldn't have the ball. I want to be clear: He can play with anybody... but I don't see him, Donovan (Mitchell) and (James) Harden as being a clean fit. I think he can do it. I just don't see the clean fit.

LeBron's prior ties to Miami are just as well-documented as his Cleveland ties. He played for Miami from 2010 to 2014 following "The Decision" and led "The Big Three" with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on four straight trips to the NBA Finals, including back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.
But with the exception of Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra still running things, the Heat aren't the same organization that he left over a decade ago.
