Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell and his wife, Haley, are expecting a baby, sharing a major personal milestone with their followers ahead of Friday’s matchup against the Atlanta Braves.
The couple announced the pregnancy on social media, giving Mitchell another reason to celebrate as Milwaukee prepares for a highly anticipated weekend series at American Family Field. The announcement comes during a strong season for Mitchell, who has continued to establish himself as an important part of the Brewers’ lineup.
Mitchell also enters the weekend after delivering one of his best performances of the season. After missing time with a sore left foot, he returned Thursday against the Seattle Mariners and went 3-for-4 with a 420-foot home run, two doubles and three RBIs in Milwaukee’s 7-4 victory.
The Brewers cleared Mitchell after he passed strength tests on his left foot, allowing him to enter the series against Atlanta without an active injury designation.
The 26-year-old has been an important part of Milwaukee’s lineup this season. Through 115 games, Mitchell is batting .261 with a .356 on-base percentage and a .421 slugging percentage, along with 26 doubles, nine home runs, 12 stolen bases and 54 RBIs.
Milwaukee enters Friday with the best record in baseball at 79-49 and a five-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central.

The weekend series also features a notable pitching matchup. Jacob Misiorowski is scheduled to start for Milwaukee with a 12-5 record and an MLB-best 1.75 ERA, while Atlanta counters with Chris Sale, who enters with a 12-8 record and a 2.16 ERA.
For Mitchell, though, the biggest news heading into the series has nothing to do with baseball. He and Haley are preparing for a new chapter together as they get ready to welcome their first child.
