The Milwaukee Brewers have certainly gotten the most out of their players in what has been another dominant regular season. Entering Wednesday’s matchup with the Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee owns a 78-48 record, the best mark in MLB.
Garrett Mitchell has been one of Milwaukee’s biggest breakout stars. The 27-year-old center fielder has finally stayed healthy in his fifth big-league season and has delivered.
Across 114 games, Mitchell has posted a .255 batting average, .352 on-base percentage, .756 OPS, eight home runs and 51 RBIs. He has also played above-average defense at a premium position in the outfield and has logged 12 stolen bases.

Mitchell was not included in Milwaukee’s lineup for Wednesday’s game at American Family Field, which was surprising given his performance on Tuesday when he went 4-for-6 at the plate.
Instead, rookie outfielder Luis Lara Jr. drew the start in center field and hit seventh in the lineup. Speaking before the game, manager Pat Murphy revealed that Mitchell is dealing with an injury.
“Garrett Mitchell has a sore foot, Pat Murphy said. Brewers thought it was best to give him the day,” reported Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.
It is unclear when Mitchell originally suffered the setback, but it is reassuring to hear Murphy indicate he should only be down for a day given how persistent injuries have been throughout his career.
He will look to return to his usual spot in center field for Thursday’s series finale against the Mariners.
