The Milwaukee Brewers will welcome Logan Henderson back to their starting rotation Thursday after announcing the right-hander is scheduled to return from the injured list for the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Henderson's return gives Milwaukee another healthy arm as it continues its push atop the National League Central entering the final stretch before the All-Star break.
The 24-year-old has been sidelined since late May with a low back strain after making five starts for the Brewers this season.
Before landing on the injured list, Henderson went 2-1 with a 2.74 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP and 30 strikeouts across 23 innings, emerging as a reliable option in Milwaukee's rotation before his setback.
Milwaukee announced Wednesday that Henderson is scheduled to start Thursday's rubber match against St. Louis after completing two minor league rehab assignments. The Brewers will make a corresponding roster move before first pitch to activate him.
Henderson, Milwaukee's fourth-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, has developed into one of the organization's promising young pitchers. His fastball, changeup and slider helped him earn an opportunity in the rotation early this season.

Getting Henderson back should help ease the workload on Milwaukee's pitching staff as the club continues its division race. Another healthy starter also gives manager Pat Murphy added flexibility as the Brewers approach the All-Star break.
Henderson's return comes at an important point in the schedule as Milwaukee looks to secure the series against the Cardinals and build momentum entering the second half of the season.
