The New York Jets received more injury news on Monday regarding their star running back, Breece Hall.

Hall will reportedly miss two to three weeks with a groin strain.

Jets fans can breathe a sigh of relief for now, at least. According to Jets head coach Aaron Glenn, Hall is expected to return in time for the regular season.

Though the news isn’t ideal, it opens the door for more playing time for the Jets’ running back room.

Hall will undoubtedly be the starter heading into the Jets’ Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. However, his absence from the Jets’ preseason games and the remainder of training camp could open up more opportunities for other players on the roster.

Braelon Allen, who found himself second on the Jets’ depth chart after Hall, could be the biggest beneficiary of his absence.

After missing most of the 2025 NFL season due to a season-ending knee injury, he returned on Friday during the Jets’ preseason matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He finished the night with 44 rushing yards, including a 31-yard rushing touchdown.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn went on to praise Allen after the game.

“I love the fact that Braelon came back and he had the explosive run. Man, he is fully back,” head coach Aaron Glenn said to the media after the game.

The Rest of the Running Back Room

After three years with Wisconsin, Allen was drafted by the Jets in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Since then, he has emerged as a reliable rotational piece in the Jets offense.

He’ll have big shoes to fill as the No. 2 running back in this revamped Jets offense led by offensive coordinator Frank Reich.

Behind Allen and Hall, Kene Nwangwu and Isaiah Davis will be looking to establish themselves in the Jets’ backfield.

Davis is currently dealing with a knee injury, and Nwangwu has been a key contributor on the Jets’ special teams.

With Hall sidelined for the next two to three weeks, the Jets will have an opportunity to see what they have behind their star running back.
