The Dallas Cowboys are trading for standout pass rusher Rashan Gary, according to multiple reports out of the NFL world on Monday.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini first reported that the Cowboys, in search of a pass rusher, will be trading for the former Packers standout edge. Gary had reportedly grown unhappy in Green Bay, at one point hinting at a release. However, Green Bay will instead be trading him to Dallas.
The Cowboys are reportedly giving up some draft compensation in exchange for the former first round NFL Draft pick.
"Trade! The Dallas Cowboys are trading for Packers DL Rashan Gary, sources tell The Athletic. Dallas bolsters its pass rush with the addition of the 2019 first-round pick. The Packers will receive a 2027 Day 3 pick in return," Russini reported.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter has confirmed the trade, which is expected to be finalized soon. The Cowboys are reportedly giving up a Day 3 NFL Draft pick.
"Trade: the Green Bay Packers are finalizing a deal that would send DT Rashan Gary to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a late-round 2027 draft pick, per ESPN sources," he reported.
Gary should help boost Dallas' pass rush
The Cowboys, who traded Micah Parsons to Green Bay last offseason, are in need of some pass rush help.
Dallas will land Gary, 28, who had 7.5 sacks last year. He has 46.5 sacks throughout his NFL career, after going No. 12 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Cowboys promised to be aggressive in free agency and they are doing just that.
