The Atlanta Braves made a series of roster moves Monday before wrapping up their series against the New York Mets, placing outfielder Eli White on the paternity list.
Atlanta selected outfielder José Azócar from Triple-A Gwinnett to take White's place on the active roster. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the Braves designated catcher Jair Camargo for assignment.
Azócar, 30, is a right-handed hitting outfielder from Venezuela who signed a minor league contract with Atlanta after previously spending time with the San Diego Padres. He made his major league debut in 2022 and returns to give the Braves additional speed and outfield depth.
Azócar has appeared in nine games with Atlanta this season, batting .333 with a .375 on-base percentage, an .842 OPS and one stolen base.
The veteran has spent most of the year with Triple-A Gwinnett, where he has hit .243 with a .295 on-base percentage over 58 games while serving as a regular outfielder.
White, 32, has batted .227 with four home runs, four stolen bases and a .291 on-base percentage in 53 games this season. Under MLB rules, players can remain on the paternity list for up to three days before returning to the active roster.

Camargo, 27, was designated for assignment after being optioned to Gwinnett on June 18. The move gives Atlanta the necessary 40-man roster spot while beginning the waiver process for the catcher.
The Braves will open Monday night's series finale against the Mets with Azócar available as a reserve outfielder and late-game defensive option as they continue their push in the National League playoff race.
