Brandon Aubrey and the Dallas Cowboys had another disappointing NFL season in 2025. Under first-year coach Brian Schottenheimer, the Cowboys began the year in the playoff hunt, but after losing four of their last five games, Dallas finished 7-9-1 and missed out on the postseason for a second consecutive year.
While the Cowboys did not have the 2025 season they hoped for, Aubrey continued his impressive NFL career. The former XFL kicker converted 36-of-42 field-goal attempts (85.7%), made 47 extra points and accounted for 155 of Dallas’ total points. His performance also earned him his third Pro Bowl selection and All-Pro honor.

But following the 2025 NFL season, Aubrey now sees his three-year, $2.695 million deal with the Cowboys expire, becoming an unrestricted free agent. The kicker joins a long list of key Dallas contributors to hit free agency, joining the likes of wide receiver George Pickens, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and safety Donovan Wilson.
While Aubrey hopes to receive an extension from Dallas, the Cowboys have prioritized the running back position, recently re-signing Javonte Williams to a three-year, $24 million deal. Now, even with Pickens also awaiting a new contract, executive vice president Stephen Jones and the Cowboys have turned their attention to Aubrey, aiming to finalize a long-term agreement soon.
“We’ve been working on a long-term deal for some time,” Jones told The Dallas Morning News. “We’ve exchanged offers and the goal is to get him signed. We’ll tender him before the deadline if that’s what we have to decide... We love him. He wants to be here, so that part is accomplished."
Jones and the Cowboys will likely look to get Aubrey's deal done before NFL free agency officially opens on March 11, hoping to keep their All-Pro kicker around for a few more years.
