Body Cam Footage From Tony Romo's Arrest Has Been Released

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo continues to make headlines for unfortunate reasons.

Romo was arrested last Thursday night in Milwaukee for operating while under the influence. It was reported by multiple outlets that he “performed poorly” during his standard field sobriety tests.

“He was taken into custody for OWI book and release,” WISN reported. “In Wisconsin, a first-offense OWI is generally a civil offense, not a criminal charge. The citation typically carries a fine ranging from $150 to $300.”

On Tuesday night, TMZ obtained footage of the police pulling over Romo on I-43. He told the cops that he was leaving a golf course so he could visit his grandparents. After his long conversation with the authorities, you eventually see Romo in the back of the cop car with handcuffs on.

"Later in the footage, the officer returns to Romo's car and asks him to step out of his Jeep to perform field sobriety tests, but Romo repeatedly asks whether he can call his lawyer before finally exiting the vehicle," TMZ reported. "The officer tells him no and orders him to get out. Romo eventually complies, and the officer tells him he is being detained pending an OWI investigation."

Page Six also obtained footage from this incident. Romo could be heard telling the police that he didn't understand the instructions for his field sobriety test.

"No, there’s too many," Romo said, via Page Six.

Will CBS keep Tony Romo?

According to the Daily Mail, there's a chance Romo takes a “step back” from the spotlight. However, he's expected to remain the No. 1 NFL analyst for CBS.

"Thankfully, Tony didn’t hurt himself or anyone else, and most importantly, no lives were lost. He knows he made a terrible decision and is well aware of it and he knows he disappointed not only himself, but those he works with and family," an inside source told Daily Mail. "He contacted his bosses almost immediately to let them know what had happened because he understood the story would spread quickly once it became public. He’s already canceled his appearance at the golf tournament he was scheduled to attend and play in, and over the next few weeks he’s looking to keep a low profile while focusing on getting himself ready for the upcoming season."

Romo has been with CBS Sports since April 2017. He'll remain Jim Nantz's partner in the broadcast booth until further notice.
