The Denver Broncos received some unfortunate news on Bo Nix right after they secured a thrilling 33-30 overtime win against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round on Saturday.
Nix injured his ankle on the second-to-the-last play of the game. Broncos head coach Sean Payton announced after the win that Nix broke a bone in his left ankle, which will require surgery. The 25-year-old quarterback has been ruled out for the remainder of the NFL playoffs.
Nix will be out of the lineup for the Broncos when they face Drake Maye and the New England Patriots in the conference championship game on Sunday.

Nix turned in a strong performance against the Bills, in what turned out to be his final game of the season. The first-round QB registered 26-of-46 completed passes for 279 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, adding 29 rushing yards on 12 carries.
Izzy Nix immediately headed to the locker room after her husband’s devastating injury. She came to offer her support to the Broncos star, whose season has now come to a bitter end.
On Tuesday, Izzy Nix took to social media to share a photo of Bo Nix in the locker room right after they learned about his season-ending injury. She also shared a heartfelt message amid the unfortunate turn of events.
"I snuck this picture because I wanted to remember this moment forever. The joy, followed by the heartbreak, followed by watching each teammate and coach come to this little corner and sit by Bo’s side,” she wrote.
Izzy Nix, who has been married to the Denver QB since 2022, then expressed her gratitude despite her husband’s current situation. She also revealed their plan to show their full support for the Broncos on Sunday against New England.
“God could have placed us anywhere, and I’m so grateful He chose Denver. He is the perfect Author of Bo’s story and we cannot wait to see what He has in store for this team — We’ll be on the front row, cheering the loudest!!! 🧡” she posted.
The Broncos finished the regular season with a 14-3 record to secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC. This gave them home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs, including the conference championship game.
Denver will host New England on Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET. As Izzy Nix revealed in her post, she and Bo Nix will be in the game to cheer for the Broncos.
