The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles were scheduled to meet Tuesday night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, but fans will have to wait to see the second game of the series.
The game was originally scheduled for a 6:35 p.m. ET first pitch, but persistent rain prevented the teams from playing as scheduled.
The latest development comes just one day after weather also affected the series opener. Monday’s game was delayed by rain before eventually getting underway around 7:20 p.m. ET. Baltimore went on to win 4-3 behind Pete Alonso’s two-home-run performance, including a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth inning.
Blue Jays vs. Orioles Postponed Because of Rain
The Orioles confirmed Tuesday’s postponement because of the ongoing weather conditions. MLB will make up the game Wednesday as part of a split-admission doubleheader, giving both teams two games at Camden Yards in one day.
The first game will begin at 1:35 p.m. ET, while the second game is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. ET. Separate tickets are required for each contest. Gates for the first game will open at 12:30 p.m., with gates for the second opening at 5:30 p.m.
The postponement creates a particularly important doubleheader for Toronto. The Blue Jays entered Tuesday 3.5 games behind the Chicago White Sox for the American League’s third wild card spot with five games remaining after Monday’s loss. Toronto could have been eliminated from postseason contention Tuesday under certain results, but the postponement means the Blue Jays will have to wait until Wednesday to resume their playoff push.
Toronto and Baltimore will now play twice Wednesday before the Blue Jays return home for their final regular-season series against the Cincinnati Reds.
