Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has not played since last Friday. During his last appearance in a game against the New York Yankees, Guerrero suffered a concussion after being inadvertently struck in the head and neck area by Yankees shortstop George Lombard Jr.
Before the freak accident, Guerrero had been playing better as of late. In his last seven games, the 27-year-old had posted a .310 batting average, .333 on-base percentage, .782 OPS, one home run and two RBIs.
While not at the elite level Blue Jays fans are accustomed to, it was still a step in the right direction in what has shaped up to be the worst season of his career.
