The Toronto Blue Jays made a bullpen adjustment before Wednesday's game against the Washington Nationals, recalling right-hander Chad Dallas from Triple-A Buffalo and optioning right-hander CJ Van Eyk to Triple-A Buffalo.
Dallas joins the major league roster as Toronto looks for fresh innings ahead of Monday trade deadline. The move gives manager John Schneider another multi-inning option after the right-hander impressed both in Triple-A and during his brief stint with the Blue Jays earlier this season.
The transaction comes as Toronto continues evaluating organizational depth while sitting last in the American League East.
Dallas has enjoyed a strong season with Triple-A Buffalo, posting a 3.16 ERA across 57.0 innings while striking out 56 batters. He also appeared twice for Toronto earlier this season, recording a 1.93 ERA over 4.2 innings with a 1.07 WHIP.
His versatility gives the Blue Jays another arm capable of covering multiple innings as the club manages its pitching staff through the final week before the trade deadline.

Van Eyk returns to Buffalo after making just three major league appearances following his MLB debut on July 17. The right-hander owns a 4.76 ERA across 5.2 innings with the Blue Jays and will continue working on his command in Triple-A.
Toronto enters Wednesday with a 49-59 record, 14 games behind the first-place Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East. While postseason hopes have faded, the Blue Jays continue using the final months of the season to evaluate younger talent, and Wednesday's roster move gives Dallas another opportunity to prove he belongs in the club's long-term pitching plans.
