The Toronto Blue Jays offense has been held scoreless over the past two games, dropping two straight against the Seattle Mariners over the weekend. Toronto now sits at 42-48 on the year and continues to slide in the American League standings.
As the Blue Jays offense looks to figure things out as a whole, they have also been without designated hitter George Springer for the past four games. Springer has had an underwhelming season after his resurgent 2025 that saw him finish seventh in American League MVP voting. Across 63 games, the 36-year-old has posted a .221 batting average, .308 on-base percentage, .681 OPS, eight home runs and 21 RBIs.

Springer has been away from the team for personal reasons. He was placed on the paternity list back on Wednesday as he and his wife Charlise welcomed a baby boy, their third child together.
Springer stepped away just before Toronto's series finale against the New York Mets. He was then placed on the family medical emergency list Saturday, though manager John Schneider revealed the reason was simply to tie up some loose ends.
Schneider provided another update after Sunday's series finale against the Mariners on when Springer will return, according to Hazel Mae of Sportsnet.
He confirmed that Springer will likely rejoin the team during their upcoming series and that the plan is for him to travel Monday to be with the club. If everything goes according to plan, he could appear in Monday's lineup for the series opener against the San Francisco Giants.
With Springer returning soon, he will look to use the brief time away as a reset and get back to the peak of his powers.
Despite entering his late 30s, Springer has shown he still has more in the tank. A refreshed version of him rejoining a lineup that has been completely shut down over the last two games would be a positive sign for a Blue Jays team running out of time to turn their season around.
