The Toronto Blue Jays’ struggles continued Monday night as they opened their road series against the San Francisco Giants with a 10-1 defeat, dropping their third consecutive game. Toronto’s offense has looked increasingly flat during this skid and the club now sits at 42-49, falling further behind in both the American League East and the wild card race.
The Blue Jays were again without designated hitter George Springer, who has not played since June 30 after being placed on the paternity list following the birth of his third child.
The club announced before first pitch that Springer had been activated from the family medical emergency list, but manager John Schneider elected not to start him against Giants right-hander Landen Roupp.

Toronto again turned to a reshuffled lineup on Monday, this time with Ernie Clement leading off and rookie Sean Keys serving as the designated hitter.
The Blue Jays released Tuesday’s starting lineup, with Springer again absent. As of writing, it’s unclear why the decision was made, but Springer will now miss his sixth straight game.
The four-time MLB All-Star has endured a disappointing 2026 season, slashing .221/.308/.373 with eight home runs and 21 RBIs in 63 games after an impressive .309/.399/.560 campaign in 2025.
Despite having a down year, Springer remains one of Toronto’s most experienced hitters and the club will need him to play at his best if they intend to advance to the playoffs.
The Blue Jays now face the challenge of responding after another lopsided defeat. They’ll continue their three-game series against the Giants on Tuesday, hoping to tie the series.
