After navigating a difficult stretch, the Toronto Blue Jays head into Wednesday’s series finale against the San Francisco Giants with a chance to secure a series victory. Toronto responded to Monday’s blowout loss with an emphatic 9-3 win on Tuesday. Jonatan Clase’s three-run homer highlighted a 13-hit performance as the Blue Jays snapped a three-game skid.
George Springer’s absence had coincided with one of Toronto’s toughest stretches of the season. The veteran designated hitter missed six consecutive games while away on paternity leave and being on the family medical emergency list, during which the Blue Jays dropped three games and struggled on offense.

Hours before first pitch in San Francisco, the Blue Jays announced their starting lineup with Springer back at designated hitter. His return comes at an ideal time as Toronto looks to build on Tuesday’s win and leave San Francisco with a series victory after an up-and-down road trip.
Springer will also be hoping the fresh start helps him turn around a difficult individual season.
After enjoying one of the finest campaigns of his career in 2025, Springer has struggled to play at that level in 2026. Entering Wednesday, he is batting .221 with eight home runs, 21 RBIs, a .308 on-base percentage and a .681 OPS through 63 games.
Toronto’s offense looked way better on Tuesday after being held to just three runs over its previous four games.
