After making just two starts for the Toronto Blue Jays, Jameson Taillon is headed to the injured list.
The Blue Jays announced on Tuesday that they're placing Taillon on the 15-day IL with right forearm tendinitis. They're also recalling right-hander Chase Lee from Triple-A Buffalo.
Toronto acquired Taillon from the Chicago Cubs on August 2 after Chicago designated him for assignment on July 27. During just his second outing with the Blue Jays on Monday against the Boston Red Sox, he exited after only four innings, departing initially due to right forearm discomfort. The 34-year-old will now head to the IL for the second time this season after missing nearly a month with the Cubs due to a left hamstring strain.
Taillon has struggled for much of the season. Across 17 starts, the righty is 2-6 with a 5.68 ERA, 75 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.37 in 84 innings pitched.
The struggles for Taillon this season are somewhat of a surprise. Last year with the Cubs, he posted an impressive 11-7 record in 23 starts, with a 3.68 ERA, 98 punchouts and a 1.06 WHIP in 129.2 innings.
Toronto has certainly seen its fair share of injuries to its starting staff this season. Max Scherzer has made just nine starts this season after being placed on the IL multiple times in 2026 with back spasms, right forearm tendinitis, and left ankle inflammation.
Lefty Patrick Corbin is also another arm on the shelf for the Blue Jays due to a left teres major strain. Rookie phenom Trey Yesavage was recently placed on the IL with left knee discomfort. It was later revealed that Yesavage underwent left knee meniscus surgery on Tuesday. The Blue Jays have also been without both José Berríos and Bowden Francis all season after the two hard-throwing righties underwent season-ending elbow surgery.
Taillon now becomes the latest arm to be placed on the IL for the reigning AL champions.
It's been a major disappointing season for the Blue Jays. They begin play Tuesday in last place in the AL East at 57-63. They're, however, just 3.5 games back of the third and final wild-card spot in the American League.
