The Toronto Blue Jays are coming off a tough 7-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins, leaving them as the 4th seed in a tightly contested American League East. Still, Toronto is starting to turn their season around as the team begins to get healthier.
Right-hander Trey Yesavage returned from a right shoulder injury earlier this week. Following a slow start in spring training due to right shoulder inflammation, he was forced to begin the year on the 15-day injured list. He completed a multi-game rehab assignment in April, allowing him to rejoin the rotation.
He started strong in his debut on Tuesday, earning a win with 5 1/3 scoreless innings against the Boston Red Sox, allowing four hits with three strikeouts and no walks.

Ahead of Friday’s game against the Minnesota Twins, Blue Jays manager John Schneider appeared on the radio show Blair and Barker.
Schneider announced that right-hander Yesavage will get the start Sunday in the series finale against Minnesota. His next outing had not been determined until that appearance.
Keegan Matheson of MLB.com previously reported that Yesavage could have been pushed back to Monday. The Blue Jays were initially hesitant to give him an extra day of rest, but have now opted to do so. It is an encouraging sign for the 22-year-old as he continues to show he is fully healthy.
This is great news for the Blue Jays, as Yesavage will provide a needed boost of talent and stability to a rotation that began the season depleted. He now has the opportunity to continue to prove himself after being selected in the first round with the 20th overall pick in 2024.
Yesavage remains one of the brightest players on Toronto's roster. Last year, he made history in October, breaking the record for strikeouts by a rookie in a single World Series game.
