Injuries have been a recurring theme for the Toronto Blue Jays throughout the 2026 season, and Daulton Varsho has become one of the latest key contributors forced to the sidelines. The veteran outfielder has been sidelined since June 5 after inflammation flared up in his left wrist, an issue that first surfaced during Toronto’s series against the Baltimore Orioles.
Varsho felt discomfort while swinging and eventually exited the game, prompting a series of tests that revealed no structural damage but enough irritation to keep him off the field. He was placed on the 10-day injured list on June 12 with left wrist inflammation.

Before going down, Varsho was slashing .256/.331/.408 with five home runs and 17 RBIs through 64 games.
At 34-38 entering Tuesday’s series opener against the Boston Red Sox, Toronto continues to monitor the status of its star outfielder, and manager John Schneider delivered an encouraging update before the game.
According to Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi, Varsho resumed hitting in the batting cages at Fenway Park and is feeling better as he continues his recovery. Varsho said the outfielder will continue ramping up over the next few days while the Blue Jays evaluate his next steps.
His return timeline remains fluid, but the latest development is a positive step for a player Toronto hopes can return before long. Varsho enjoyed a breakout 2025 campaign and remains one of the club’s most valuable two-way players when healthy.
The Blue Jays are currently third in the American League East and having Varsho back will be a huge boost as the season gradually approaches its midpoint.
