The Toronto Blue Jays have struggled to find consistency throughout the 2026 MLB season. After climbing their way back to .500 for only one day, the Blue Jays have since lost five of their last six games. Entering Saturday’s matchup against the Baltimore Orioles with a 30-34 record, Toronto is currently in fourth place in the American League East.
While Toronto has dealt with up-and-down seasons from many important offensive contributors such as first basemanVladimir Guerrero Jr. and designated hitter George Springer, injuries have also been a major source of frustration for the organization. Several key contributors have missed time throughout the year, and the Blue Jays are now monitoring the status of another important everyday player.

Daulton Varsho exited Friday's game after aggravating a recurring issue involving his left wrist. However, prior to Saturday's game, Blue Jays manager John Schneider provided an encouraging update regarding Varsho's status.
Mitch Bannon of The Athletic shared Schneider’s comments on X.
“He said he's dealt with this before, and it's usually like a day or two, so hopefully it's something like that,” Schneider said.
While the Blue Jays will likely continue to take a cautious approach with one of their most important defensive players, Schneider's comments and the negative X-rays suggest the organization is optimistic that the former Gold Glove Award winner will avoid a lengthy absence.
In 61 games this season, the 29-year-old center fielder is hitting .256 with an OBP of .331 and an OPS of .738 and five home runs. With the Blue Jays hoping to build momentum over the coming weeks, avoiding a significant injury with Varsho would be a welcome development for a club that has struggled with health all season.
