After making the World Series last year, the Toronto Blue Jays have been one of the most surprising teams throughout the 2026 MLB season. They are 46-53, sit in fifth place in the American League East and are 4.5 games back from a wild card spot.
After failing to keep the momentum going from 2025, Toronto may be looking to reset before the MLB trade deadline. With a handful of talented players, the Blue Jays could be sellers in order to build for the future.
While big names such as first basemanVladimir Guerrero Jr. and starting pitcher Dylan Cease aren't expected to go anywhere, that can't be said about everyone.

Outfielder Daulton Varsho has been a consistent piece of the Blue Jays' roster since joining the team in 2023. However, during a Monday appearance on "Foul Territory," USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported that the outfielder is expected to have suitors at the trade deadline.
“I think you’re going to have to move Daulton as well and hear about George Springer,” Nightengale said. “You know, I mean George is a DH and not going to have as many suitors, but I think Varsho will have a lot of suitors. So, I think these next 10 days are as big to them as any organization in baseball.”
This season, the 30-year-old has appeared in 86 games for Toronto, accumulating 36 runs scored, 69 hits, seven home runs and 24 RBIs in 289 at-bats. He is also slashing .239/.305/.384 for a .689 OPS.
While he's been better in the past with a career .721 OPS, Varsho is also known for his defensive prowess. The 2024 Gold Glove Award winner has not committed a single error this season in 675.2 innings roaming center field.
Now into his last season of team control, Varsho could be an attractive option for teams in contention looking to add a productive defender with postseason experience before the trade deadline.
