Blockbuster Trade Idea Sends Sparks' Dearica Hamby, Cameron Brink to Lynx for Superstar Forward

It has been a disappointing season thus far for the Los Angeles Sparks as they currently sit 12th in the WNBA standings with a 10-17 record.

Of course, Los Angeles entered the season with high expectations after signing Nneka Ogwumike in free agency to pair alongside Kelsey Plum and Dearica Hamby.

Instead, the Sparks have struggled as both Plum and Cameron Brink have missed time due to injuries and now with Sunday’s trade deadline quickly approaching, Los Angeles is expected to be a seller.

While the Sparks are expected to make some moves at the trade deadline to retool their roster, they may also look at ways to upgrade their roster and one player that could be available is Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier.

Napheesa Collier Named Potential Trade Candidate

According to The Athletic’s Annie Costabile, Collier should be considered a potential trade candidate due to her being in the final year of her contract and the fact that the Lynx have posted the best record in the WNBA despite the star forward playing in only two games thus far.

With this report, it appears as though Collier could be on the move this season if Minnesota believes she will leave in free agency, which could provide the Sparks with an opportunity to acquire a superstar to help build around for the future.

Mock Trade Sends Dearica Hamby, Cameron Brink to Lynx for Napheesa Collier

In a potential trade, the Sparks could send a package of Hamby, Brink and multiple first-round picks to the Lynx in exchange for Collier and Emma Cechova.

Of course, this trade would cost Los Angeles a large trade package as they would have to move on from two of their key frontcourt players, along with multiple future draft picks, though adding Collier to their roster could set themselves up well for the future.

For Collier, she would provide the Sparks with an elite scorer and defender who could become their new franchise player as they would likely look to build around her in the offseason and potentially at the trade deadline if they do move on from Plum and other veterans on their roster.

While this trade could work out well for the Sparks, they may elect to make other moves to retool their roster ahead of Sunday’s trade deadline while the Lynx may be unwilling to move on from Collier as they try to win a title this season.
