It has been a great season thus far for the Minnesota Lynx as they currently sit at the top of the WNBA standings with a 23-6 record.

Of course, many around the league questioned whether the Lynx would get off to a hot start like they have with star forward Napheesa Collier sidelined to begin the season while recovering from surgery on both of her ankles in the offseason, but Minnesota was able to do so.

This was mainly due to others on their roster stepping up like Kayla McBride, Nathasha Howard and Courtney Williams, along with star rookie Olivia Miles.

Now with Collier back from injury, the Lynx look as though they are the team to beat for the title this season, though a recent report revealed that they may be open to moving one of their top players.

Napheesa Collier Named Potential Trade Candidate

In a report released Tuesday by The Athletic’s Annie Costabile, she mentioned that Collier should be considered a potential trade candidate due to her being in the final year of her contract and with the Lynx excelling without her to begin the season.

If the Lynx do decide to move Collier ahead of Sunday’s trade deadline, multiple teams could show interest in the superstar forward, including the Los Angeles Sparks.

In a potential trade, the Lynx could send Collier and Emma Cechova to the Sparks in exchange for Dearica Hamby, Cameron Brink and multiple first-round picks.

While moving on from Collier would likely be a tough decision for Minnesota to make, acquiring two key frontcourt players in Hamby and Brink, along with future draft capital, could set themselves up well to chase a championship.

For Hamby, she would provide Minnesota with a reliable scorer and rebounder and she could also excel in pick-and-roll opportunities with Miles and McBride.

The Lynx would also acquire a great young inside defender in Brink who could become a key piece off the bench for the Lynx.

By making this trade, Minnesota would upgrade their frontcourt depth to make a run at a title this season, though they may also elect to keep their current core together and hold onto Collier past Sunday’s trade deadline.
