The Buffalo Bills made some noise in the offseason by acquiring former Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore. However, the noise was quickly drowned out by the criticism surrounding the acquisition. Moore, 29, came to Buffalo in exchange for a second-round pick, which was deemed a gamble by pundits due to the receiver's age.
Despite the criticism, Moore seems to have made a mark at Orchard Park during training camp. He is already developing a strong connection with his quarterback, Josh Allen, and is making big plays during practice. This gamble seems to be paying off for Brandon Beane and the Bills.
The Bills shared a post on X showcasing the connection between Allen and Moore. The former first-round pick caught a deep ball from Allen and took it all the way to the end zone, demonstrating his growing chemistry with his quarterback.
Allen has already noticed what makes Moore different. Speaking with "NFL on CBS" reporter Evan Washburn, Allen praised Moore's ability after the catch.
"His body control, the way that he moves with the ball in his hand - it's a different element. It's a guy that can catch a slant and take it to the house, and that's exciting as a quarterback when you have someone like that," Allen told Washburn.
The Bills have struggled to provide Allen with a true No. 1 wide receiver since Stefon Diggs' departure in 2024. The quarterback's heroics and an elite running game have kept the Bills' offense going, but the passing game needed improvement. With Moore in the building, Allen now has a genuine No. 1 receiver who can make an impact and lead the team's passing game.
Moore spent his peak years in Chicago, establishing himself as one of the best wideouts in the league. His first season in Chicago saw him rack up 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns while playing in all 17 regular-season games. Before he arrived in Chicago, the wide receiver made a name for himself in Carolina, recording three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.
The chemistry between Moore and Allen will be one of the key storylines to watch as the season unfolds. If the duo develops into the playmaking partnership Buffalo envisioned, it could give the Bills another boost in their pursuit of a Super Bowl.
