Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers had a very disappointing start to the 2026 season. They lost the first two games of the year, falling 26-14 to the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders.
On Sunday, Los Angeles was looking to turn its season around, but it had to take on the Buffalo Bills on the road. Herbert and the Chargers had a great beginning to Sunday afternoon’s matchup, as they scored a touchdown on their opening drive after the Bills fumbled on their first play.
There was one play in the Chargers’ scoring drive that aided them to getting in the end zone.

After Los Angeles’ defense forced James Cook to fumble, the Chargers began their drive in Buffalo’s end. On the first play of the drive, Herbert threw an incomplete pass but was hit late by Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb.
This drew a roughing the passer penalty on Chubb, which set up Herbert and the Chargers to score on the drive, which ended with a one-yard touchdown pass from Herbert to Keaton Mitchell.
This roughing the passer penalty against Chubb will draw a punishment from the NFL. According to the league’s website, players are fined $17,911 for their first infraction on a roughing the passer penalty and $23,882 on the second offense.
Chubb and the Bills will await the announcement that will be made by the NFL on Saturday, when the league releases all of its fines from the previous week of games.
Late in the first quarter on Sunday, the Chargers were leading 10-0 over the Bills.
