The Houston Rockets’ latest defeat has sparked more than just concern. What unfolded in Minnesota has now triggered strong reactions from analysts and raised deeper questions about the team’s identity. As the regular season tightens, the spotlight is shifting from results to something less tangible but equally important.

Houston’s 110-108 overtime loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves quickly turned into a defining moment, not just for the result but for how it happened.

After building a 13-point lead with just over three minutes left in overtime, the Rockets collapsed, allowing a stunning 15-0 run that marked the largest overtime comeback in the play-by-play era, as confirmed by the NBA.

While Minnesota’s resilience stood out despite multiple injuries, much of the postgame conversation centered on Houston’s unraveling. Bill Simmons, speaking on his podcast, sharply criticized the Rockets’ overall cohesion and energy.

“The body language doctor is horrified… This is bad. First of all, it's the most disconnected of all the playoff teams,” Simmons said. “That team is just so not on the same page. I don't like the vibes. Something's really wrong with the Rockets.”

He extended that criticism to head coach Ime Udoka, questioning late-game adjustments and overall leadership.

“Ime, I think this has been one of the worst coaching jobs of the year… I don't see any adjustments late. The vibes are awful.”

Simmons also pointed to a noticeable drop-off since the All-Star break, suggesting lingering off-court distractions may have impacted team chemistry.

Meanwhile, Minnesota’s comeback reflected composure and execution. Julius Randle emphasized the team’s mindset, saying, “When it gets tough, we come together as a group,” while head coach Chris Finch noted they “stole it right back” after nearly losing control late.

At 43-29, Houston remains in the playoff mix, but this loss exposed deeper concerns. With a tight Western Conference race, their ability to respond may ultimately define how far they can go.
