He's no Spike Lee, but comedian and producer Ben Stiller has proven to be one of the biggest celebrity Knicks superfans out there during the 2026 NBA playoffs. And if the Knicks finish the job and win the NBA Finals, their season could be immortalized in a film he's working on.
According to Page Six, Stiller is filming a documentary for HBO from his phone involving the Knicks. Prior to Game 4, he appeared on NBA Tip-Off alongside the Inside the NBA crew and was asked if there's any truth to the report.
“We see you around with; you do a lot of video. Is there something you’re archiving?” Kenny Smith asked Stiller before being interrupted by Shaquille O'Neal.
“Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!” Shaq told Smith. “He hasn’t announced it yet. He don’t want to announce it right now.”
Stiller then jokingly called Shaq his "PR person" before stating that there is a project in the works and one that he'd be doing anyway.
“Thank you, my PR person, Shaq,” Stiller joked.

Stiller's New Project
Stiller described it as "part of a bigger project" and "insane" while sharing how much he's loved the POV he's gotten for the entire thing.
“Yeah, there’s a project in the works,” Stiller admitted. “I’d be doing it anyway. But it is part of a bigger project… It’s insane. To be able to have that point of view, it’s fun to be able to share it with people.”
Once lauded and sometimes mocked for being a comedian, Stiller now ranks among the more respected names in media as the Emmy-nominated executive producer of the hit TV series "Severance."
A decade ago such a project might have been mocked. But with the people Stiller now has working with him, people are going to be ready Day 1 to see what he puts out.
