A beloved high school basketball coach has died at the age of 45, after leading his school to a perfect season.

Reece Jenkin, the head coach of Colfax boys basketball in Washington, has died following a battle with stage four cancer. He was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer in December of 2025. He had been feeling ill for a couple of weeks.

The head coach's cancer was deemed inoperable. After he underwent surgery, he was unable to make it to most of his team's games, though he returned for the season finale, as Colfax capped a perfect 24-0 year.

Jenkin died at the end of February.

Jenkin's son was the team's top player.

"Jenkin's son Adrik is Colfax's star player and was named the Northeast 2B south division MVP for the third time this season," KREM 2 News reported.

"As he underwent chemotherapy treatment, he was unable to make it to most of Colfax's games in 2026, but returned on senior night when Adrik and his teammates, who Jenkin had coached for a decade, were honored."

Colfax is set to begin postseason play soon.

The undefeated high school team is playing in the 2B state tournament in Washington.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family members.
