Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon didn’t hold back in her recent comments about her team.
The Aces blew out the Connecticut Sun on Thursday, 101-78. Jackie Young led the way with 24 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while A’ja Wilson tallied 20 points, four rebounds and three assists.
It certainly helped Las Vegas, however, that Connecticut was missing some of its best players in Brittney Griner and Aaliyah Edwards. Griner was dealing with a left knee injury, while Edwards was nursing a left ankle problem.
Considering that the Sun were severely shorthanded, reporters naturally asked Hammon after the game if she ever considered resting her starters in the contest. It would have certainly made sense since the Aces had already secured a playoff berth prior to the showdown.

In her usual blunt demeanor, Hammon quickly shut down the idea and reminded everyone of the Aces’ recent struggles.
“Have you seen us play lately?” Hammon said to a reporter. “We need to start getting our [expletive] together.”
To be fair to Hammon, the Aces had not looked great in recent wins. In fact, prior to their win against the Sun, they had won just twice in their previous six games.
Due to their recent poor play, they don’t have much of a lead over the Indiana Fever and Atlanta Dream in the standings. Las Vegas is only half a game ahead of Indiana and just one game ahead of Atlanta.
Fans absolutely loved Hammon’s response, with many highlighting how she always keeps things real.
“I love BECKYYYY she so real,” a commenter wrote. Another one said, “She ain’t lying.”
“Welp! At least they can laugh about it,” a fan added.
“I love her!!” a supporter stated.
A follower shared, “That’s valid.”
“You’re So Right Coach!!!!” a sixth poster exclaimed.
