Becky Hammon and the Las Vegas Aces couldn’t secure their spot in the 2026 WNBA semifinals on Tuesday night, falling to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever 99-89 in Game 2 of the first round. Now, with the series tied 1-1, the Aces will head back to Las Vegas to host the Fever in a must-win Game 3 on Thursday.
With 4:10 remaining in the fourth quarter and the Fever holding a solid lead, Aces forward A’ja Wilson attempted to get open before accidentally trucking Sophie Cunningham to the floor, before the Indiana guard was called for the foul. After the play, however, a fan appeared to say something and point at Wilson, who did not take their actions lightly, going at the fan for a bit as well.
Aces players had to pull Wilson back from the fan, who was eventually called for a technical after the whole situation.

The fan was also removed from his seat by security after the incident with Wilson was de-escalated. But during Hammon’s postgame press conference, a reporter pointed out that the fan was later allowed to return to his seat, asking the head coach for her thoughts before Hammon called on the league to take action.
“There’s rules and procedures, I think there’s a certain etiquette that both players and fines need to abide by,” Hammon said. “Clearly there are some things that the line gets crossed, and it seems to happen here. Like I said, I can’t speak specifically to what was said or what was done, but I could speak to the character of our players and the stuff that they deal with.
“The disrespect, whether thats a word or an action or a gesture should be addressed appropriately. That’s not my job, it’s the job of this arena, so I assume they’re following protocol.”
Hammon and the Aces will host the Fever on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
