Chicago Bears fans got a massive scare on Sunday, as star quarterback Caleb Williams went down with an injury that looked serious. He was carted off the field and was in tears as he left. Thankfully for Chicago, Williams’ injury was not as bad as it seemed, as he was ruled “week-to-week” with a right hamstring injury, according to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin.
While Williams was not ruled out of the Bears’ Monday night matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, it is unlikely that he will be able to suit up. Tyson Bagent is Chicago’s backup quarterback, who completed five of his nine passes for 54 yards on Sunday. However, on Tuesday, news surfaced that Bagent may not be available for the Bears’ next game.

ESPN and NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport said on Tuesday that Bagent was dealing with a concussion and was in the NFL’s protocol, and he may not be available on Monday.
“#Bears QB Tyson Bagent is dealing with a concussion and is in the NFL’s concussion protocol, sources say. With Caleb Williams likely out with a hamstring injury, Case Keenum could be the starter vs the #Eagles,” Rapoport said.
If neither Williams nor Bagent is able to play against the Eagles, it would mean that Keenum would play for the first time since 2023. He has played parts of 11 seasons in the NFL with numerous teams. The last time he saw game action was three seasons ago for the Houston Texans, when he started two games, throwing for 291 yards and one touchdown with three interceptions.

With Keenum being the likely starter, the Bears will have a big hill to climb against the Eagles, who have started the year 2-0. Kickoff on “Monday Night Football” is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET at Soldier Field and can be seen on ABC and ESPN.
