The Chicago Bears head to Atlanta for a Week 6 showdown with the Falcons, with both teams looking to bounce back from crushing losses in Week 5. Chicago not only suffered a disappointing defeat but also lost several key defenders to injuries. However, the Bears have reason for optimism heading into Atlanta, as quarterback Caleb Williams could return to the lineup.
With plenty at stake early in the season, the Bears need as many healthy players as possible for this NFC showdown in the South. Chicago fans could flock to Mercedes-Benz Stadium as they did in 2022, potentially creating a home-away-from-home atmosphere for Williams’ return. Here’s a look at Chicago’s projected inactives for Week 6.
Bears Projected Inactives

- LB T.J. Edwards
- LB Keyshaun Elliott
- RB Kyle Monangai
- DL Dayo Odeyingbo
- CB Tyrique Stevenson
- QB Tyson Bagent (third quarterback)
Bagent could find himself listed as the third quarterback after a brutal performance in Week 5 against the Packers. Chicago committed five turnovers in the loss, and Bagent struggled to keep the offense on track. If Williams returns as expected, Bagent could be relegated to the emergency quarterback role. Williams was a full participant in practice and, despite being listed as questionable, appears more likely than not to play against Atlanta.
Meanwhile, Monangai could be sorely missed as he prepares to sit out his second consecutive game. The rookie running back has provided an impactful presence in Chicago’s backfield, and his absence would leave more responsibility for D’Andre Swift and the team’s remaining running backs. The Bears also face significant concerns on defense, with Edwards, Elliott, Odeyingbo and Stevenson among the projected inactives. Losing multiple contributors at all three levels could make containing Atlanta’s offense more difficult, particularly if the Falcons can exploit Chicago’s depleted linebacker and secondary depth.
