The Chicago Bears enter Week 6 looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the Green Bay Packers, but their next opponent presents another difficult, unique challenge. The Atlanta Falcons have two game-changing playmakers who could give Chicago fits on both sides of the ball, forcing the Bears to address some significant concerns if they hope to leave Atlanta with a win.
From an explosive offensive weapon who can hurt defenses in multiple ways to a defensive star capable of turning a game around with one play, the Falcons have the personnel to exploit Chicago’s weaknesses. The Bears must find ways to contain these two game wreckers, especially if quarterback Caleb Williams remains less than 100% healthy or Chicago has to rely on a backup again.
Bijan Robinson Can Do It All for Atlanta

Chicago’s biggest defensive concern right now is its secondary, but the Bears also face a major challenge in containing Bijan Robinson. He isn’t just an elite ball carrier. Robinson can catch passes out of the backfield and split out wide when needed. Simply put, he can do it all.
Chicago has been stout against the run this season, but Atlanta has consistently found success on the ground. The Bears’ Week 5 opponent allowed the Falcons to rush for more than 200 yards, while Chicago managed just 81 rushing yards of its own. Robinson has also posted a 48% rushing success rate, and his elusive running style has helped him generate 468 yards after contact.
The Bears must limit Robinson’s impact as both a runner and receiver. If Chicago allows him to dictate the game, Atlanta could exploit the defense in multiple ways and put even more pressure on the Bears’ offense to keep pace.
Jessie Bates Can Single-Handedly Crush the Bears’ Offensive Plans

If one player wrecked Chicago’s offense against Green Bay, it was Packers safety Xavier McKinney. He recorded two interceptions and two pass breakups on Sunday, making it difficult for the Bears to trust their backup quarterbacks to push the ball downfield. Atlanta also boasts an elite safety tandem, but Jessie Bates III is the heartbeat of the Falcons’ defense. He doesn’t just make plays in coverage; he can also disrupt an offense near the line of scrimmage.
In Week 5, Bates returned a fumble for a touchdown while adding six tackles. He has been one of Atlanta’s best defensive players since joining the team in 2023, and his ability to create turnovers makes him a major threat to Chicago’s offensive game plan.
If the Bears have to turn to a backup quarterback again, or Caleb Williams plays while less than 100% healthy, they must prioritize ball security. Bates has the instincts and playmaking ability to capitalize on a mistake and change the course of the game in an instant.
