We don’t yet know who will be playing quarterback for the Chicago Bears when they host the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.
But, we now know who won’t be playing QB for Chicago in the game.
Caleb Williams Ruled Out vs. Eagles on Monday Night Football
Bears starting quarterback Caleb Williams has been officially ruled out of the game after suffering a hamstring injury during Chicago’s Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. This was an expected move, as it was always doubtful that Williams would recover in time to be ready for the game.
Williams’ injury initially looked worse than it ended up being, which is a major relief for the Bears and Bears fans, but the organization still plans to be very cautious with the star QB. Hamstring injuries are serious, and certainly nothing to play around with. At this point, it remains to be seen exactly when we’ll see Williams out on the field again.
Now the question for the Eagles is who they will face off against at quarterback for Chicago on Monday night.
Bears Backup QB Tyson Bagent Listed as Questionable vs. Eagles
Unfortunately for the Bears, Williams isn’t their only QB dealing with an injury issue. Backup Tyson Bagent is listed as questionable for the game against Philadelphia due to a concussion. If he’s also unable to play, third-string signal-caller Case Keenum will start for Chicago.
Bears coach Ben Johnson made it sound like the Bears would prefer to start Bagent, as long as he’s healthy.
“I mean we’ve got a sense that we want to get him healthy first and foremost. That was his No. 1 priority,” Johnson said. “. . . But there’s a reason why Tyson was the backup as we ended camp, and we felt good about who he is as a player and what he can bring to the table to this offense.
“And so, [I] would be excited to get him out there as well. So I think we’ve got a lot of good choices. We’ll come together as a staff and make sure we’re on the same page.”
A final decision regarding who the starter will be for Chicago will come at some point before kickoff on Monday night.
