The Chicago Bears took down the Atlanta Falcons on the road on Sunday afternoon. However, for much of the contest, it felt like a home game for the Bears.
This wasn’t always a good thing, though.
Midway through the third quarter, Falcons rookie Kendal Daniels dove into Bears tight end Colston Loveland after a Caleb Williams pass completion. The rookie linebacker’s head appeared to collide with the tight end’s leg. Daniels remained down on the field, as trainers and emergency personnel attended to him.
Daniels had his neck and body stabilized before he was loaded into a cart on a gurney, as Falcons players and coaches wished him well.
However, as Daniels was getting looked at, a “Green Bay (expletives)” chant broke out inside of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Bears fans taking heat for ‘classless’ chant Sunday
The Bears vs. Packers rivalry is a great one, but perhaps leave it to the side when a player is facing a potentially serious injury.
“We do NOT condone or defend this,” one fan wrote.
“Just classless,” one fan added.
“That’s wild. Why is the cheese living in their head rent free,” one fan added.
Falcons players, coaches speak out on the injury
Thankfully, postgame reports on Dnaiels’ status are promising, as he appeared to be in good spirits with good test results coming back.
“He said, ‘Y’all go finish this off.’ He was in good spirits,” quarterback Michael Penix Jr. said postgame.
Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski added: “Those are no fun for anybody. Players, coaches. You don’t want to see anyone down like that. Kendal is a kid we all love, we all respect.
“All the reports are good, and we’re praying that they remain good.”
The Bears topped the Falcons, 31-23, to improve to 4-2 on the season, while Atlanta dropped to 2-4.
