Dallas Wings rookie Azzi Fudd made sure to give Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark the respect and recognition she deserves amid her third season in the WNBA.
Clark is having her best year yet with the Fever. She’s averaging 21.7 points on a career-high 44.6% shooting, along with 3.9 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game. She’s third in the WNBA in scoring and second in assists, putting her on track to become the first player in league history to lead the league in assists while finishing in the top three in scoring.
Unsurprisingly, given her performance, Clark has been mentioned in MVP discussions, alongside Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson and Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles.
Fudd, for her part, acknowledged the career that Clark has had so far and highlighted what has been impressive about her game that others don’t see or recognize.

“She has grown in her game and her confidence, but she was still that 3-point shooter. She was still super competitive. She was still, yeah, fun to play with,” Fudd said of Clark during an interview with Joe Trahan of WFAA.
“To do what she’s doing is difficult. So, to see her create the way that she is, to hit the shots that she’s hitting, to play with that poise, it’s impressive.”
Fudd added that the fact that Clark has been doing what she’s doing since her AAU and collegiate days makes everything about her game even more remarkable.
It remains to be seen if Clark will be able to strengthen her case for MVP before the season ends. Regardless, there’s no denying that she has gained the respect of her peers, including Fudd.
