The Colorado Avalanche entered Sunday's game against the Minnesota Wild riding a four-game winning streak and holding first place in the Central Division.

After beating Minnesota, the Avs improved to a 43-10-9 record and sit seven points ahead of the Dallas Stars and 10 clear of the Wild in the Central Division, extending their game-winning streak to five to wrap up the week.

Before the 3-2 win over the Wild at Ball Arena in Denver, however, the club announced bad news on team captain Gabriel Landeskog, who didn't play on Sunday.

Landeskog, 33, had an assist in 22:54 of ice time during the 5-4 shootout victory against the Stars on Friday. The captain has 29 points, including nine goals and 20 assists, in 47 games this season.

The Avalanche announced on Sunday that Landeskog is week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

“Well, it’s a lower-body injury, and not a comfortable one,” head coach Jared Bednar said. “That’s the time frame that the doctors gave us.”

The forward is coming off scoring seven points in six games since returning from the 2026 Olympics, where he posted four points in five games for Team Sweden.

According to Corey Masisak of The Denver Post, Landeskog sustained the injury after taking a shot from Cale Makar to the groin and had a dent in his athletic cup following the hit.

That means Landeskog's setback is not related to the knee issues that sidelined him for three full regular seasons from 2022 to 2025. During that time, Landeskog underwent multiple surgeries on his right knee, including a cartilage transplant on May 10, 2023, and missed 1,032 days before returning during the 2025 Western Conference First Round.

The Avalanche next face the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. ET.
