Women's tennis star Aryna Sabalenka had exciting news to announce right before the start of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

Sabalenka, a four-time Grand Slam champion, started her 2026 season by winning the Brisbane International. She then suffered a heartbreaking loss to Elena Rybakina in the Australian Open final.

As for Sabalenka's life off the court, she's been quite happy with her boyfriend, entrepreneur Georgios Frangulis. During the 2025 US Open, she bothered him about getting engaged after watching a proposal go down at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

“It was a very sweet moment, but I was trying just to not start smiling. Because it’s very cute, and I was trying to keep focusing on my game. It was a great moment, and as I said on court, I wish them a happy marriage," Sabalenka said. "I looked at my boyfriend. No pressure."

Although the heat was on Frangulis last September, he clearly didn't feel the pressure. On Tuesday night, he got down on one knee and proposed to the No. 1 women's tennis player in the world.

Sabalenka shared a video from their engagement on Instagram along with the caption: "You & me, forever."

Unsurprisingly, Sabalenka received plenty of support from the tennis community. Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Coco Gauff and Ben Shelton all sent her kind messages.

Who is Georgios Frangulis?

Frangulis, who was born and raised in Brazil, founded a superfood brand called Oakberry in 2016. His brand is known for its açaí bowls and smoothies. Outside of building a really successful brand, he's competed in 128 races of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.

Though his days of being a motorsports athlete might be over, Frangulis is constantly traveling the world with Sabalenka. He's been by her side since her championship run at the 2024 US Open.

“There was a really tough period where I was really happy to have him by my side, always cheering me up, always making sure that we are doing some fun stuff,” Sabalenka said.

Fans should expect to see Frangulis cheering Sabalenka on at the BNP Paribas Open.
