After the Finalissima was canceled, the Argentina national team quickly picked two African national teams to play against in March to prepare for the 2026 World Cup.
Argentina's first friendly match will be against Mauritania today at La Bombonera, home of Boca Juniors. Argentina will be expected to play their biggest star players, including Lionel Messi.
Argentina topped the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying table and was among the first nations to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The current World Cup holders finished first with 38 points after 18 qualifying matches.
Last November, Argentina traveled to Angola to play Angola in a friendly match, and the World Champions won 2-0 with goals from Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martinez.
Argentina will play in Argentina for the first time since their World Cup qualifier match against Venezuela, where they won 3-0.
